Worship
:: Connect with God and one another
:: In a culture of changing styles and fading fads, the MESA Worship Gathering is anchored in the tried and true components of Christian faith and practice. The MESA Worship Gathering is a weekly encounter with God through Spirit, Word, and Sacrament, blending the best of the charismatic, evangelical, and traditional aspects of the Christian faith. It is joyful and reverent, rooted and relevant.
:: MESA’s order of worship (the liturgy, a Latin word meaning the work of the people) is about God, God’s story, and our place within it. The music is a blend of traditional hymns and the newest worship songs. Portions of the Bible are read aloud. Sermons are biblical, relevant, and inspirational. Collects and creeds are incorporated. There is time for reflection and prayer. Holy Communion is joyfully celebrated every week. In liturgical worship, ancient practices of the Christian faith meet contemporary application, and the timeless truth of the Gospel finds relevant expression in a powerful way.
:: Liturgical worship is holistic worship. It engages the heart, mind, and soul in a weekly experience where God reaches down in love, communicates the benefits of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and through the Holy Spirit, restores, reshapes, and re-empowers our lives. The basics of what it means to be in an authentic relationship with God and one another are learned and practiced. If liturgical worship is new to you, don’t worry! You will be guided through the Worship Gathering with instructions on the screen and in your program.
:: We worship every Sunday at 10:00 AM at Murchison Middle School in Austin, TX. Fresh Rwandan coffee starts at 9:45AM.
