Mission

:: Bless those in need

:: Jesus fed the hungry and healed the sick as intentional acts of kindness and mercy. In doing so, Jesus also demonstrated His role as the Messiah, God in the flesh and Savior of the world. In the same way, every follower of Jesus is called to bless those in need with intentional acts of kindness and mercy to demonstrate the love of Christ and lead people to saving faith in Him.

:: Being a blessing simply means:

  • humbly pursuing and providing for those in need
  • with the heart of Jesus Christ,
  • in accordance with your calling and capacity
  • taking advantage of every opportunity to share your relationship with Jesus Christ
  • prayerfully partnering with God for their salvation

:: The church exists by mission as a fire exists by burning. Servant evangelism enables every follower of Jesus Christ, from brand-new to a mature believer, to become an effective communicator of God’s love through unassuming acts of compassion. This “incarnational” approach to mission is highly relational and deeply rewarding as it positively affects both those blessing and those being blessed. (see Luke 4:17-19; Luke 15; Philippians 2:1-11; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21).

:: Blessing Projects are an intentional and enjoyable way to live out the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20).  They serve as catalysts for your growth in missional living. There are four Blessing Projects this fall:

  1. Operation Christmas Child is coming in November.  Again, we’re going to bring joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world by sending them gift-filled shoe boxes with the Good News of God’s love clearly explained in their own language.
  2. Praying and discerning the creation of a new traditional Anglican Worship Gathering to connect lost and disconnected friends to Christ at MESA.
  3. Our Church Planting Resident, Perry Koon, is preparing to start a new Anglican Mission church in SW Austin in September of ’09!
  4. We are developing a simple way to partner with an existing program at Murchison Middle School to bless under-privileged students.

:: Be a part of at least one of these four Blessing projects this fall!
